Activision Blizzard has revealed its latest financial numbers and the company claims that they were better than expects. The game publisher revealed that for the quarter that ended on March 31, net revenues were $1.17 billion, compared with $1.45 billion for the same period a year ago. Net income came in at $587 million for the quarter, compared with $755 million for the same period a year ago.
While Activision Blizzard didn’t offer a sales update on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, it did announced that 10 million users had signed up for the company’s Call of Duty Elite service. Two million of those users paid the $49.99 a year fee for the extra content and features. The entire Call of Duty franchise now has 40 million monthly active users, according to the company.
As far as Diablo III, the publisher said that the game had “set a new record for Blizzard” but didn’t go into details. The game is due for release on May 15th. As far as its long running MMO World of Warcraft, the company said it had 10.2 million subscribers. the exact same amount it had three months ago. This is despite the launch of BioWare and EA’s game Star Wars: The Old Republic in December 2011.
Activision has a number of major game releases planned in the near future, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the next World of Warcraft expansion pack, and the super secret game from Halo creators Bungie.
