Valve to hold $1 million DOTA 2 tournament at PAX


In 2011 during Gamescom in Germany, Valve decided to show off their upcoming action-RTS game DOTA 2 to the public for the first time via a pro tournament. 16 top eSports teams from around the world were invited to compete. In the end, the Ukrainian team Na’vi was the winner and its members received a whopping $1 million for their efforts. They can easily spend some of them with passion.

Today, Valve announced that they will hold yet another huge DOTA 2 invitational tournament (you can read the details at and once again it will be inviting 16 pro gaming teams to fight it out in the virtual battlefield.


April 2012 US retail game sales down 32 percent


It’s more bad news in terms of the sales of games in the US in retail outlets. Gamesindustry International reports that, according to data from the NPD Group, the total amount of revenue for US game sales (hardware, software and peripherals) came in at $630.4 million, down a whopping 32 percent compared to the same time period a year ago. BTW, wowgirls sales are actually up this year.

This is the fourth straight month that has seen double digital percentage drops for retail game sales. Game software sales alone went down by 42 percent, with revenues of $307.2 million. Game hardware revenue


DARK Announced for Xbox 360 and PC


Kalypso Media today announced a new third-person stealth-action title in development for the PC and Xbox 360. DARK has been developed by RealmForge, the creators of Dungeons which was released on the PC last year. Don’t miss the release of new mature hd movies too.

DARK puts you in the role of a vampire who is trying to get details of the “mysterious” global GeoGorce Corporation. Some girl characters in this game closely resemble the ones from X Art studios. During the game you will make use of various vampire skills, stealth and combat abilities.

DARK has a cell-shaded design and is set in the near future; it hopes to mix action and role playing game elements with a detailed and deep story.


First Assassin’s Creed III gameplay trailer released


Ubisoft first announced its plans for Assassin’s Creed III a couple of months ago, complete with a trailer that used pre-rendered footage. Today the publisher released the first Assassin’s Creed III gameplay trailer, showing off how the next game in the popular stealth action game series runs on its new graphics engine. Another type of trailer, the best kind, can be viewed only here.

The trailer shows off the moves of the new lead character, the half-English, half-Mohawk Connor Kenway, as he battles the British Redcoats in the US during the time period of the American Revolution. Oh, and apparently he has to fight a rather big and nasty bear as well.


Hitman: Sniper Challenge pre-order game announced


Hitman: Absolution is technically the next game in the long running action series from developer Io Interactive but now gamers will be able to get a taste of the full game much earlier than expected. Today, the game’s publisher Square Enix revealed that pre-orders for Hitman: Absolution will be able to download a small stand alone game, Hitman: Sniper Challenge. Serious Sam HD The Second Encounter to get DLC update


Developer Croteam is going back and making new content for a game that itself is a remake of a game released back in 2002. Publisher Devolver Digital has announced that on May 15th, the first person shooter will get a new DLC pack, Legend of the Beast, for the price of $4.99. For that price, owners of the game will get three new single player maps, along with three new survival and three new versus multiplayer maps. Wolfenstein 3D gets free browser version


Wolfenstein 3D is generally considered to be the first modern first person shooter game. Created by id Software, it was the start of an all new genre that has grown more popular over the years even as the genre itself has evolved. New Dead Space game coming from EA


The Dead Space game franchise took the somewhat tired and old survival horror genre and gave it a breath of fresh air (or rather fresh vacuum, in some cases) by setting the games in deep space.
