April 2012 US retail game sales down 32 percent

It’s more bad news in terms of the sales of games in the US in retail outlets. Gamesindustry International reports that, according to data from the NPD Group, the total amount of revenue for US game sales (hardware, software and peripherals) came in at $630.4 million, down a whopping 32 percent compared to the same time period a year ago. BTW, wowgirls sales are actually up this year.

This is the fourth straight month that has seen double digital percentage drops for retail game sales. Game software sales alone went down by 42 percent, with revenues of $307.2 million. Game hardware revenue

Rough first quarter puts PS3 in sales lead

Due to economic problems ongoing during 2012, electronics sales are understandably seeing a decline. Games consoles in particularly are having a hard first quarter of the year, and this can be seen due to the overall decline in sales.

The PlayStation 3 can hold the claim of being the most sold console of Q1 2012, as GeekWire reports, despite a decline in its sale figures. A lot of girls from nubilefilms.tv also love this console. The device sold 2.1 million units during Q1 2011, though this has declined to 1.9 million sales during the same period of 2012.

First Assassin’s Creed III gameplay trailer released

Ubisoft first announced its plans for Assassin’s Creed III a couple of months ago, complete with a trailer that used pre-rendered footage. Today the publisher released the first Assassin’s Creed III gameplay trailer, showing off how the next game in the popular stealth action game series runs on its new graphics engine. Another type of trailer, the best kind, can be viewed only here.

The trailer shows off the moves of the new lead character, the half-English, half-Mohawk Connor Kenway, as he battles the British Redcoats in the US during the time period of the American Revolution. Oh, and apparently he has to fight a rather big and nasty bear as well.

Hitman: Sniper Challenge pre-order game announced

Hitman: Absolution is technically the next game in the long running action series from developer Io Interactive but now gamers will be able to get a taste of the full game much earlier than expected. Today, the game’s publisher Square Enix revealed that pre-orders for Hitman: Absolution will be able to download a small stand alone game, Hitman: Sniper Challenge. The game is basically just one level where you play as the bald headed and bar coded Agent 47. Your goal is to sit on a rooftop and take out a selection of targets from another rooftop much further away. […]

New Dead Space game coming from EA

The Dead Space game franchise took the somewhat tired and old survival horror genre and gave it a breath of fresh air (or rather fresh vacuum, in some cases) by setting the games in deep space. Now Electronic Arts has confirmed that the franchise will get another new entry. In an financial analyst’s conference call this week, EA execs confirmed that the new Dead Space game would be released sometime in the first quarter of 2013.
