Well this looks pretty good just on this brief glimpse of the game.

Quote

Unlike 2K Marin's previously announced XCOM shooter, which sparked tempers among longtime fans for turning its back on the series' cerebral roots, this title is a full-on strategy game that puts players in command of a global anti-alien defense force. XCOM's leader needs a worldwide perspective where threats are identified, populations reassured, and national leaders mollified – but a tactical mind is just as critical considering every shot XCOM's soldiers fire on the battlefield is under the player's turn-based control.

"It’s been a dream of ours to recreate X-COM with our unique creative vision. We’re huge fans of the original game and it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to re-envision a game that is as beloved as X-COM," said Steve Martin, president of Firaxis Games. "We were careful to keep XCOM: Enemy Unknown true to the elements that made X-COM such a revered game while delivering an entirely new story and gameplay experience for both die-hard X-COM fans and newcomers to the franchise."

It's about time they started working on an X-COM strategy game.

Looking forward to learning more about this. I knew XCOM the FPS wouldn't be the only XCOM game coming out soon. Hell, they practically stated that word-for-word multiple times -- never understood why people got so upset.

X-Com was the only strategy game I really liked despite I sucked at it.

I look forward to seeing more about it.

I hope that they really do bring it back to the original turn based X-COMS... look into Xenonauts! http://www.xenonauts.com/

I personally am sick of them re-releasing under the name of X-COM, and making it FPS...! major let down! My 5c! :)

so this isn't the shooter 2K is working on? well, Steam had the whole series for like five bucks the other day, guess someone's ramping up interest in the franchise, and this kind of explains it!

Now I just need someone to tell me Syndicate is being remade as a proper syndicate game as well and not just FPS. since there's no tactical game that comes close to syndicate. it's what all other games want to be when they grow up.

It's delayed until 2013..

I personally won't shed a tear if it gets canceled...

or are you talkign about the delay of that other Xcom game that shall remain unnamed and forgotten even if it's awesome, that has nothing to do with the new new xcom game this thread is about ?
