Acer’s predator is an upper mid-range laptop that gives features of all new laptops. It comes with GTX 1060 and is combined with Intel i7 8th Gen processor. It was the best-selling gaming laptop in 2020. That’s why it’s ranked top on our list.

This device is just perfect for all you’re gaming and work needs. The powerful combination of CPU and GPU allows you to game in high graphics. The display features a 144 Hz refresh rate, which is a banger at such a mid-range price.

The internal design of the laptop has a simple classic look, but the back design gets all the points; it features a Predator logo with two RGB red strip giving a pure feeling of gamer. The display size is 15.6, and the max resolution it supports is 1080p while giving a refresh rate of 144 Hz.

Other than that, there are no major flaws in this system; it would have been better if small features such as Thunderbolt 3 port and SD card reader were added. These problems don’t concern the user as much because the performance of this laptop covers all the downsides.

Its body’s quality remains the same average quality; it can be improved given the laptop’s specs. The cooling system is excellent as it does a great job in preventing overheating, but the fans are too noisy, and it can disturb you if you are working in a quiet place.

Overall the laptop gets a good rating if talking about specs and performance. The GTX 1060 card gives a significant amount of bump in the performance as it can run games smoother in high settings. The keyboard design and the port selection are excellent too.

  • The display offers 60Hz.

Dell G3 is the most affordable option out there that offers Intel Core i5 8th Generation CPU with NVidia’s GTX 1060 and 8 GB of RAM. It is the least expensive laptop out there that offers incredible specs and performance.

Dell G3 is customizable in storage and RAM options as it allows you to upgrade the 8 GB RAM up to 32 GB. It comes with a 1 TB hard drive and a 126 GB SSD, which you can upgrade while buying or later in the future.

The laptop has a slim design, and the color selection on this laptop is mostly blue as there are multiple blue patterns on the body and a blue backlight on the keyboard. The keyboard layout is great, and the keys’ placement is good too, but the typing on this keyboard is not good as the buttons are harder to press.

The port selection is not good as it doesn’t feature all the modern ports required for a gaming laptop. On the right side, you will get a USB 2 port with an SD card reader. You will get two USB 3.1 ports on the left side, with an RJ45 Ethernet connector, an HDMI input, a headphone jack, and a power connector.

– Author Note:

The main flaw in this system is its display, the quality is exceptionally dark even in full brightness, and the color quality is quite dull. Even though it features a 1080p display, the quality seems not as great as its competitor. It’s fair for this laptop because it offers great specs in a low-price range.

It would also have received a top rating if the keyboard design and buttons were more user-friendly. However, the overall system is excellent. It offers more performance and storage in a low price range than its competitor.

  • Only offers a 60hz refresh rate

HP omen series is well-known for its great performing systems. This laptop is the same; it comes with Intel’s i7 8th generation processor with 16 GB DDR4 RAM. It comes in a lot of different variants with different processors and graphics cards. But the GTX 1060 variant is the popular one.

Omen series is famous for its beautifully designed laptops; this HP 15 received a new look when the rounded corners were replaced by thin edges that provided a slim look. The device color has been darker, giving a perfect red and black combo look with Omen’s logo on the back.

The body has all modern ports. On the left side, you get a hefty number of ports, including one USB type-A port, USB Type-C, HDMI input, an RJ45 Ethernet connector, Thunderbolt 3 port, and a headphone and microphone jack. On the right side, you get two USB Type-A connectors with an SD card reader.

The keyboard design is quite similar as it comes with a red RGB backlight that gives the keyboard a premium look, and the keys are softer than its previous models. The display features a 1080p resolution screen that offers a 60 Hz display, and it also supports G-Sync.

– Author Note:

The overall system is great, but some flaws make a person think twice before buying. The battery life is relatively low as compared to their competitors as it can hardly give you enough back if doing long gaming sessions. Additionally, the power supply cable that comes with it is too bulky to carry around.

And the display only offers a 60 Hz of refresh rate it’s very dated when compared to the competitors. Otherwise, this laptop is an excellent choice if you want fast performance because it features a PCIe SSD, which is hard to find in the price range of HP Omen. And, the 120 Hz screen will assure you of high graphics gaming.

#5 – Lenovo Legion Y520

– Specifications:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-7700HQ
  • CPU Speed: 2.8 GHz

  • Only 60 Hz of refresh rate.

Lenovo Legion is a great mid-range gaming laptop with an Intel Core i7 7th generation processor with GTX 1060 and 16 GB DDR4 RAM. However, some variants of this same model provide no SSD, and some variants provide an SSD.

The storage options are good as it provides 1 TB of hard drive and, in some variants, an SSD too for booting OS. The gaming performance on this device is pretty good, actually considering the processor, but it runs almost all new games in high fps without any stutters.

Talking about ports on this laptop, it features all modern ports except Thunderbolt 3 port. You’ll get one USB 2.0 connector, an Ethernet connector, Kensington lock port, and a power connector on the left side. You get two USB 3.0 connectors, a USB Type-C, HDMI input, and an SD card reader on the right side.

The display panel receives an average rating as it is not considered to be an excellent screen for gaming. The color and brightness quality is not as great as it should be. The resolution of the screen is 1920 x 1080p, and it’s an IPS panel.

– Author Note:

Many reviewers criticize Lenovo legion’s design. Because of the all-plastic body and harder keys on the keyboard. The design will not bother you much as long as it stays in your home; you will eventually get used to it. However, you will have to protect the laptop from falling, which can cause a substantial impact on the laptop’s parts.

Overall, the device is excellent for budget gaming, as it can provide high-quality graphics on most of the games. Lenovo laptops are faster than their competitors so that you won’t have any complaints regarding the system’s speed.

– Drawbacks:

  • The speakers on this device are not up to the mark, as you can hardly hear the sound coming from them, and if you do, it won’t be clear.

Asus TUF is a great laptop for mid-range gaming. It features Intel’s i7 8th Generation processor with 6 GB VRAM GTX 1060 and a RAM of 16 GB DDR4. The display features a 1080p and a 120 Hz screen.

The storage options are extraordinary as it comes with a 1 TB hard drive and a 256 GB PCIe SSD. The keyboard comes with an RGB backlight that gives the system a classic look, the keys are well-spaced, and you’ll love typing on this keyboard.

The ports on this laptop are average as it doesn’t contain a USB Type-C port as most of the devices are switching to type-C. There are two USB 3.0, one USB 2.0, HDMI input, an Ethernet connector, a power connector, and an audio jack on the left side. On the right side, there are no ports except a Kensington lock.

The screen of this device gets a full rating because of its sparkling colors and pleasant viewing display. The screen comes with different refresh rates, but the 120 Hz is the commonly purchased variant. It also features a touchpad with a fast response system, and there are various accessibilities options you can perform.

– Author Note:

The speakers in this system are not of good quality as you can hardly hear clear audios. This won’t bother you much if you are going to use it with a headset. The quality of the webcam is not good either, so you will have to make sure that you have an extra webcam if you are buying this product.

The overall quality of this device is good, and the performance of the system is outstanding. This product’s screen gets all the glamour as it has the best screen from other products on our list. It is a great option for you if you are looking for quality color and graphics in-game.

– Drawbacks:

  • The system battery is not as good as it should have been; it doesn’t last long because RGB consumes most of the energy.

The all RGB laptop, MSI GE63, is one of the best in the market if you love RGB lighting on your devices. GE63 comes with Intel’s Core i7 8th Generation CPU, GTX 1060, and 16 GB DDR4 RAM.

The laptop’s design has the main focus because it has an impressive red and black color combination backed with full RGB backlighting on the keyboard. The keyboard is well designed, too, as the keys are well within the range of fingers, and they are softer and more comfortable to type.

This device’s really cool feature is that you can change the RGB color of each and every key that is on the keyboard with its SteelSeries Engine 3 software. The touchpad is also of good quality as it doesn’t lag and responds quickly.

Port selection on the body is acceptable; however, it doesn’t have a Thunderbolt 3 port. On the right side, you’ll get two USB 3.1 ports with an SD card reader. While on the right side, there are two USB connectors, one USB 3.1 and one USB type-C; you also get a mini-DP out, HDMI input, and separate jacks for mic and headphone.

– Author Note:

The use of RGB lighting is pretty impressive, but it comes with its cost; it takes half of your battery life and gives you shorter sessions without charge. You’ll find most of your time playing games on a charging laptop. Another problem with this system is its fans, which can become loud if under load.

Overall, the system quality is great as it offers a great screen and designed laptop. You can seamlessly game on it without getting any fps drops. I recommend this product to users who love RGB with excellent quality specs.

Best GTX 1060 Laptop: Important Aspects & Features To Check!

Before buying a laptop, you should consider the important factors that you might need or don’t. Choosing the right product can be challenging if the requirements are not clear.

I have covered the six most important factors that one should consider before buying a laptop; this will make the process easier for you and will take less time to choose the right product. The main points include battery life, new processors, heat sinking, screen resolutions, storage type, and the games you can play.

More Related Laptops:

New Gen Processor

Getting a good graphics card is not enough; you should have a capable processor to run all the latest games that feature high graphics. Older processors are great too, but they are slowly getting out of the league as new processors are released every year.

CGI of GPU and CPU inside gaming laptop

The new processors feature high speed and a good amount of cache that efficiently run games and do all the graphics work. Some processors are even capable of playing mid-end games in a medium setting without any graphics card, so the new the processor is, the more smooth games will run.

High-Quality Heat Sinking

Heating problems are common in laptops; a PC doesn’t face as many overheating issues as a laptop does. The PC has adequate space for the air to flow, but in laptops, the area is compact, so there are high chances that the system overheats; here’s when heat sinking comes in place.

Image of the Heatsink inside of a laptop

A high-quality heat sink will provide a massive amount of protection from heat, as it will absorb most of the heat from components. This will help you use the laptop for more extended periods as you don’t need any cooling pad to protect it.

Battery Life

Battery plays a vital role in laptops, as most people buy laptops to become portable, which only happens with a battery. The portability depends on the laptop’s battery life as the more the battery life, the more portability a person gets.

Image of a person playing the Cyberpunk 2077 on Laptop

Finding a laptop with good battery life is challenging as many companies offer good battery life, but only a few deliver it. Some system battery is great in starting few months, but after some time it starts decreasing rapidly. So finding a laptop with good battery life is challenging, but it is not impossible.

Screen Resolution & Display

Everybody wants to game in the highest settings possible. Still, you can’t unlock the game’s full features unless you don’t have a good display that gives striking color and a good screen resolution. 1920 x 1080p is getting common amongst gaming laptops as it’s a good resolution for gaming.

Image of Honor Hunter V700 Gaming Laptop

The next main thing to consider while looking for displays is its refresh rate. The refresh rate is a feature that will decide you smooth your laptop will run. For instance, if your screen features a 144 Hz display, you will feel quite a lot of difference if you use a screen with a lower refresh rate.

What Games Can You Play On A GTX 1060 laptop?

GTX 1060 is a great graphics card for laptop gaming. It can play most AA games without any lag on high 1080p settings. Such as Far Cry: New Dawn, Far Cry 5, Battlefield V, Hitman 2, GTA V, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and many other games released in that graphics type, it can give around 50-80 fps on these particular games on high settings.

Logos of Multiple Video Games

However, when it comes to the latest titles, the GPU lacks processing power. New games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, CyberPunk 2077, Watch Dogs Legion, Red Dead Redemption 2, Marvel’s Avenger, these games are high-end, and it will be difficult for the GPU to play it in 1080p. You will have to switch to the low-resolution mode to play the games smoothly.

NVMe vs. SSD vs. HDD (Check Your Needs)

Storage plays a significant role not only in gaming but in regular use too. The older PCs and laptops used to come only in a hard drive, but it is slowly changing as SSD’s are taking their place. The SSD is faster than a standard hard drive. The loading time of apps and OS decreases rapidly as soon as you switch on an SSD.

The SSD is coming in different variants too, a new NVMe SSD is introduced that fits directly onto the motherboard of the system just like RAM, but it is equipped with a screw afterward. The NVMe is far superior in speed and processing to a regular SSD, but it comes with a hefty price tag.

The more storage you will opt for, the more costly it will be for you. Most people use a small storage NVMe SSD for OS installation and a large hard drive for their everyday use.

My Final Verdict:

The competition in graphics cards is increasing year after year. The companies are releasing new cards every year for new games and software, but while there is a new graphics card coming every year, we can’t forget that there are old cards that can provide high-quality gaming at an affordable price.

GTX 1060 is an excellent example of an affordable card. However, it’s an old graphics card, but the quality it provides is really fantastic as it gives around 80-100 fps in high settings on some significant AAA titles in 1080p resolution. GTX 1060 is still a famous card for gaming; many budget users still prefer this card over others.

So, here’s the end of our best GTX 1060 laptop list. I hope that you have found a perfect laptop for you that meets your requirements.
